The author's first attempt at the genre is rather pleasant. The plot and subplots are quite complex and soare the characters. Dialogue was not simple. Accordingly, plot twists and character motivationsare not as evident as simpler stories that are also good. Having two ladies get nice husbands iscertainly nice. I shall assume that Caroline had John give her as much pleasure at consummation asEdward gave Lydia. Individuals also had nice faith no doubt due to Caroline's influence! Elementsand themes were nicely balanced without undue emphasis. Stereotypes are not used. The story starts withan assassin pursuing the young Edward, Duke of Summerhill. He suffers a fall and amnesia becoming a stableboyfor his enemy. The middle daughter Lydia falls for him and receives help from surprising quarters. The actual villain is not evident until the last part of the story. There is a worthy subplot for the eldest sister, Caroline. There is also another puzzling subplot about a certain London Lady which has a surprising resolution. Did I say that the plot is not easy to guess! The reader's interest should be captured until the end of the story. Don't forget to get the epilogue, too! The steamy part is just enough and does not carry the blatant equation of lust and actual love of actual pornography. The story stands on its own artistic merit.
Edward Godwin leaves London and encounters a man 🚹with nefarious intentions just as he's nearing home. In attempting to outrun the man that's chasing after him, he ends up knocked from his ðŸŽand no idea of who he is or where he's from. Edward is found by the staff of the Duke of Greenwick on whose property he has befallen and is taken in and his injuries are treated. He takes on the job working in the stables while waiting for his memory to return. Lydia Bradford the middle daughter of the Duke, meets Edward when she goes to the stables so she can go riding. They end up falling in love 💘, but their is no 👎way that they'll be allowed to marry with her being a Dukes 💃daughter and Edward a stablehand. Edward is also attacked again and Lydia thinks that her father had something to do with it , when Edward is attacked a second time which leads to him regaining his memory. The Duke of Greenwick is incensed by his daughter's accusation and more so when he finds out that Edward is the Duke of Summerhill who belongs to the family they've been feuding with because of Edward's grandfather. Read what happens when Edward contacts his family since his memory has returned, find out if he gets the girl he loves and how he finds out who was behind the plot to assassinate him and just how premeditated everything was to get rid of Edward. I really enjoyed this book and I really think that others will enjoy 📚 reading it as well.
As Edward, the Duke of Summerhill, is making his way home one night, he realizes that someone is following him--someone carrying two pistols! He rides well beyond his estate to try to lose his pursuer but ends up in a strange woods, with no memory of who he is, or how he got there. Luckily, he is on the edge of another duke's estate and is taken in and given a job and a chance to recover. While still suffering from amnesia, he falls in love with Lady Lydia--not the best time for that! This book is about the uncertain love of the two, the trials of the Duke's brother and cousin trying to find out where he is, and the constant threats from the Duke's would-be killer.I thought this was a great story; it has themes of adventure, fear, and love in its many forms. I couldn't always stop reading because I had to find out what happens next.
Loved the storyline and the progression of the characters. I enjoyed how they grew and how the story flexed. It was a bit hard to get into at first but don't regret picking it up at all. The ending was beautifully sculpted. Great job Olivia! This is another example of why I will always keep comong back for more stories from you!
I very good story that I could not stop reading until I finished it. Well written and action that flows from one scene to the next. Lovely romance story with a good mystery and a lengthy epilogue. What's not to like. I look forward to more well written from Ms. Olivia.
This was my first read by this author Olivia Bennet, having said that it won't be my last. I was pleasantly surprise at the depth of this story and how well written it was. From old family fueds, jealousy, and amnesia sparks flare between Lydia and Edward. This was a action packed story and one that I believe anyone that enjoys Historical Regency Romance will enjoy.
A well written story that I enjoyed reading, there is suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, attempted murder, loss of memory, romance and an ending I really liked. This is the story of Lydia Bradford and Edward Godwin Duke of Summerhill who is attacked and loses his memory and ends up working as a stable boy for the Duke of Greenwick. I highly recommend this book.
This was a write that I could not put down. There was mystery, plot twists and turns, and a story plot that flowed like a stream.
