I enjoyed reading this book with my children so much. The story of St. Brigid is one I never knew before, so I was learning along with them. I love the gorgeous, colorful illustrations, the text font, and the strong female Christian lead character that is a wonderful role model for all of us. The world should know more about this saint! My favorite part as an adult was the hospitality prayer at the end, which I often go back to.
I enjoy reading about the Irish saints, and found this picture book especially well done. The emphasis is on Brigid's Christianity, and this telling skirts some of the more fantastical legends that surround her.The font has the look of a handwritten uncial alphabet, which seems appropriate, and goes beautifully with the Celtic-inspired illustration. If you purchase it for Kindle, it is best read on an iPad or other tablet that can display two-page spreads in color. It loses much of the spirit of joy when seen in single pages on a black and white e-reader.
I chose this book because of the lovely artwork and beautifiul story of one of the most beloved Celtic saints.It is very appropriate for children because of its simplicity and length. Very readable. And I believe even adults who are unfamliar with St. Brigit will find it a lovely over view of her life and ministry.
This format style was so disappointing as a 'book'. It is styled like a fancy colouring book. So disappointed that a little more care in the format style. Aimed at children but not for children who have had real books as this is sorely lacking.
A lovely book. Wonderful, vibrant colors and pictures, and we loved the post-book materials including some ancient Irish hospitality sayings. We l love St. Brigid and this book is a beautiful expose of her life.
