Marilyn H. Oermann, PhD, RN, ANEF, FAAN, is the Thelma M. Ingles Professor of Nursing and Director of Evaluation and Educational Research at Duke University School of Nursing, Durham, North Carolina. This text was very useful in my graduate level nursing course. The concepts are easy to understand and applicable to the future nurse educator as well as those in practice.
Not a big fan, it was required for my course
Excellent content but extremely poor editing. Multiple misspelled words, words missing first letter, and sentences missing words that left you reading it several times to figure out the meaning.
Great ideas, Oermann is a forward thinker
Good review of content needed for certification.
This book has useful information for my master's level course in Evaluation, but the reader must be somewhat of a sleuth to find the gold. This book contains more misspellings, truncated words, extra letters in words, and, in one case, a demonstration of an incorrect solution to a mathematical equation (which makes understanding the content extremely challenging, if one had no prior knowledge base) than I have ever encountered before. Instructors, do NOT assign the 5th edition of this book until you verify the editing has been revised. Students, get ready, you're in for a challenge in deciphering the puzzle that is this text. (Test page? there are many, but you can look at p. 99, p. 184 and many others. Style is also not consistent.)
