As a LVT working in speciality, these text books are worth every penny. I recommend for anyone looking to gain a deeper understanding of complex procedures. Tobias and her collaborators do an excellent job of explaining not only the "how," but the why. The text is easy to understand and the illustrations/tables/photos are VERY helpful. I use it as a reference daily. I feel it has strengthened my knowledge, this allowing me to anticipate my surgeon's needs intra-op as a scrub nurse.The books were promptly delivered - neatly packaged and sealed in the original clear wrap. With the new edition dropping soon, the price was too goo to pass up. I have a feeling this edition will start selling out fast.
I'm a small animal surgery resident and you basically cannot function without this book. Well written and easy to follow. Pictures are chosen well and are of excellent quality. Reviews anatomy, physiology, and recent publications on each subject. Great source to use for preparation before surgery and for boards studying. Worth the money! If you get the edition with the ebook included, it's also fantastic. You can easily navigate through the online content while saving highlights and notes.
The Kindle Version is difficult to navigate quickly- If it had an index that I could use like the paper copy, that would help tremendously. As it is, I type in 'amputation' on the search bar, and get no results, or 'cruciate repair' and can't decipher which link will bring me to a quick image or step by step procedure as I was hoping it would. I purchased this as a easy guide to glance at reminder info prior to a surgery and as far as I can see, I doubt I will use it at all. I will keep trying, as the content is good- just hard to find.
I debated if the online version was going to be worth the extra money and am so thrilled that I bought it. Use it at least 5 times a week. Its easy to search topics and the best part is that you can click links that bring you to references right away. The text does not have the references listed at the back of the chapter and can only be accessed online. Another added bonus of the on-line version is that you can cut and paste images to put them in power points and use them as teaching aids. Online version is also able to be pulled up on my ipad as well. The text and the e-online version are probably overkill together, but I am traditional and like to have hard copies available of all my most used textbooks.
Well organized, nicely illustrated and extremely practical. I purchased it when recommended by Dr Howard Seim at a week-long surgical lab, and it has been an excellent investment.
This is a new edition for Slatter's book.The text is very updated and easy to read. Anatomy reminder in each section (mainly from Miller's anatomy book ).The text is smaller, making the book less heavy. Many figures from Fossum,Slatter,and other books. There are more images (many by Karen Tobias).General + Neurosurgery + Orthopedic in volume 1 and Soft tissue surgery in volume 2 .Very recommended
