I've used the "Dummies" series of books for a lot of different subjects over the years, and usually they give a great "how to" for any given subject.I bought this book to brush up on QuickBooks since I hadn't used it for a few years and my new job would be requiring me to use it every day. When I tried to look up specific things I needed to do in QB, this book only gives instructions for how to do things if you use QB's add on services like Payroll. We use ADP for payroll and the book mentions how you won't need to file tax forms or pay the taxes yourself if you use ADP to run your payroll as the service does that for you; which, duh... I already knew. I need to know how to enter the Payroll transactions into QuickBooks once the payroll has been run, but there is no description of how to enter your Payroll in QB if you use ADP to run payroll. They only tell you how to run a payroll through QB's payroll service.Don't waste your money on this terrible book.

Easy to read
This book is very basic, makes a lot of assumptions about how you are using Quickbooks and therefore offers limited or no information on many topics. For example, it assumes that you are an existing business rather than a start-up, that classes are not useful, and that you frequently consult an accountant, among other things. The key things I wanted to use the book for were glossed over or disregarded entirely so this was a waste of money. If you try to return it, Anazon only refunds 3/4 of the price and take shipping off of that, so the refund amounts to less than half of purchase price. This is going straight in the donation bin.
